The suite life…

Not going to lie, it’s a pretty cool place to work! Scroll down to see everything we offer stylists and how to take the next steps towards the career of your dreams

What we offer stylists…

FREEDOM

  • I'm never going to keep you from those special moments in life. Or tell you to come in if you're sick. Take the time off you need, when you need. It's unlimited -- no joke.

  • I set the salon hours, you set yours. Schedule your clients anytime within working hours of the salon (8am-8pm). Come and go as necessary! Work during the hours you want!

  • Never again feel stuck at a price-point because you didn't meet some unrealistic sales goal set by the salon owner. You set your own prices and have the freedom to increase them at any time.

  • If you ever choose to leave, you can take your clients with you. We'll never discount services to retain a client and undercut you.

  • We don't stock retail, so no anxiety-inducing sales goals!

Of course we use great backbar products, and recommend them as needed, but our focus is not on upselling the client. They're already paying a premium for our knowledge and expertise!

Recommendations can easily be made by the stylist and purchased online by the client with affiliate links, with a percentage going to the stylist.

  • If you're not booked for the day, you don't have to come into the salon! Like, why would I even have you do that?!

  • I know, I know! You're thinking, "But who will book, greet, check-in, and check-out my clients?!" You will!

    Sound scary? Just listen...

With no front desk it puts the power back into the stylist's hands -- never again have a mis-booked client because of a receptionist who doesn't understand hair. And taking charge of your own booking means you'll have the power to pass on the client if you don't think it's a good fit.

It may seem like a lot at first, but I'll coach you through it, and in the end, you'll realize this will take you to the next step of taking charge and leveling up your business.

  • It's just easier! Last-minute appointments tend to be some of the most anxiety-inducing appointments a stylist can have. The unknowns. The rushed feeling.

Let's just erase that from the narrative, shall we? Only calm vibes here, darling -- with some poppin' music, of course!

COMISSION

  • The commission at Salon Grey is 48% to the stylist -- standard, across the board.

  • You will not be charged for product usage (e.g. color or backbar).

  • A simple payment structure means it's easier for you come tax season.

  • All backbar necessities -- styling products, color, etc. -- is provided at no additional cost. Stylists are free to bring in other products for use if not provided, but will not be reimbursed.

  • Blow dryers, hot tools, capes, bowls and brushes, and all major supplies necessary for daily use of the salon are provided**.

**Stylists must provide sheers, combs, and clips.

  • Benefits for being W2 include Social Security, Medicare, Disability and Paid Sick Leave.

GROWTH

  • We may guide you, but in the end, you are in ultimate control of your prices!

  • Choose to work more or less depending on your life and schedule. Work seasonally, one day a month, or just Tuesday nights! You get the idea... As long as you are a good employee, I value whatever time you are willing to give the salon.

  • Come and go, work at another salon simultaneously, or just work here! All of these are options! I think restricting your stylists restricts their growth. You should work here because you like the environment and it meets your needs as a stylist, not because you're locked into a contract!

  • I want to help you grow your business! If you have the drive and eagerness to learn, I'll be there to teach.

And if I don't know the answer I have a vast network to pull from.

Need some help with a particular area of your career? My goal is to provide the tools and opportunities not provided to me as a young stylist in this industry and help you achieve the career of your dreams.

  • Nah, bruh. Never. Gross.

Ready to come work for Salon Grey?

Our hiring process is a little bit different than other salons.

Rest assured, this is a confidential process! I will not be reaching out to current or former employers.

I get it — the typical interview process can be nerve-wracking! To ease your mind, I’ve laid out everything you can expect…

  • Anyone interested in joining the Salon Grey team are invited to submit a short video, approximately two minutes in length, answering the following questions:

    • Tell us a little about you.

    • What interests you about Salon Grey?

    • What can you add to our team?

    • What experience and skills do you have?

    • What are your career goals?

Keep it simple or be as creative as you like!

    Videos can be submitted via:

  • Periodically, I will contact prospective employees and arrange a salon visit that is approximately one hour in length. During this time, you're invited to come to the salon and get a feel for the team and the salon environment and vice versa.

During the visit, I may conduct a brief interview. The questions will not have right or wrong answers, but they will tell me about you and how you operate your business.

  • Models are generally not required as part of the interview process. Social media tells me most of what I need to know about your skills. For those without extensive images of their work, you may be asked to demonstrate your skills on a model provided by the salon. If so, this will be arranged ahead of time and not be sprung on you.

  • A notice or employment offer will be sent to you within 48 hours of your salon visit.

Thanks for considering us!
